This is the smallest thing we sell that changes a day. It lives in the laptop sleeve permanently, weighs almost nothing, and means the meeting starts when you sit down rather than when someone finds the right cable.
We chose it because it does three jobs on one plug — picture, data and power — in an anodised aluminium shell that survives being carried loose in a bag, which is how it will actually be carried.
Why it earns its place

Before you choose
It needs a full-function USB-C port — at least USB-C 3.1 Gen 2, or a Thunderbolt-capable one. A number of laptops and most budget tablets have USB-C for charging and data only, and those will not send a picture. The charging port carries power alone, so use the USB 3.0 port for files. If you are running a bus-powered drive, plug a charger into the power port so everything has enough to draw on.
