A riser does two useful things at once. It puts the monitor at a height your neck agrees with, and it turns the space beneath into somewhere the keyboard goes at the end of the day. The desk gets taller and larger in the same movement.

We chose the wood-framed version deliberately. Most risers are black plastic that announces itself; this one reads as furniture, in black, maple or white, and it does not creak under a monitor.

Before you choose

It arrives flat and is assembled at home — a short job, but not an out-of-the-box one. The height is fixed rather than adjustable, which is what keeps it rigid. The opening underneath is 40 cm wide and 8 cm high, so a compact or standard keyboard slides under comfortably; measure first if you use a full-size mechanical board with a wrist rest. It is made to carry a monitor or a laptop, not a stack of equipment.
